The 18 tenses of the Spanish verb hay (there is / there are)

Authors

It appears there might be a slight misunderstanding. The Spanish verb haber is the root for both the auxiliary verb "to have" and the impersonal form hay ("there is/there are"). The table I previously provided covered the full conjugation of haber as an auxiliary verb, which includes the impersonal form ha habido.

The word hay is a special, impersonal form derived from the third-person singular of the present tense of haber. Because it is impersonal, it only exists in this singular form and doesn't change based on who is doing the action (e.g., I, you, we). It means "there is" or "there are" and is used to talk about the existence of something.

Here is a table showing the full conjugation of haber as an impersonal verb, with each form corresponding to the meaning "there is" or "there are" in different tenses.
